Coach Lesson Plan

Warm up – have your group run to a location and afterwards have them stretch, take roll. 


Goal: Skill development 


Lesson 1: How to play the game. 

I. Explain how to play by going over the rules with your class before starting a  game. To get a person out, they can catch a ball that is kicked for an automatic out, tag the person with the ball, tag the base before the runner gets to it, or they can throw the ball at the kicker (it must hit them below the waist). Demo each method so that they understand. 

II. Divide your group into two teams. Have the teams run the base relay with the winning team kicking first. Play shotgun first so that everyone will get a chance to kick the ball before starting the real game. You can roll the ball for the first couple of times, then you can pick a student to do it. You can rotate them every 5 rolls.
